“It’s easier for a bank to enter the digital world in Latin America than in the United States, because there’s less existing infrastructure to protect. This is a huge opportunity for all kinds of baks, because mobile penetration is 100% but only 30% of the population has a bank account.”
In an interview with Funds Society, Miguel Santos, Technisys’ CEO and co-founder, explained how regulation, technology, new non-banking competitors and consumer habits are defining business models in the finance world both in the US and Latin America, and how the outlooks for those regions differ. “The big challenge is technological, digital and financial inclusion for every consumer.
